32 minutes easy. -------------------- Final ranking updates: 1. Wardian 2. Matt Pelletier (1:07 half a couple months ago) Both going for 2:22 tomorrow. #3-10, open. DesGranges is a no show and Decker's only pacing #1 and #2 until 18 or so at 5:20s. There's a few other guys around my ability that I'll try to hang with in the 2nd pack.

Paraphrasing Gatsby:

You have built your Colossus. You will run ravenously. The invisible cloak of fatigue will slip from your shoulders as you trade on your substantial millions. May you gleam like silver, safe and proud above the hot struggles of the road.

Dude, you know...good luck.
run your @$$ off! I'm sure you have a race strategy planned. Will be looking for top 3 finish...

Pelletier wil blow away Wardian, who races too much. He appears to bounce back remarkably well but no one can pop a true gem on his schedule. I'm guessing - aw fuckit, PREDICTING, yes - that Pelleier will run 2:23 and Wardian 2:27 after they both go through the half in 1:10 high.

Decker will realize he has 3rd sewn up and instead of DNFing will continue to the finish in 2:29.

8 under 2:40 but only 4 under 2:35.

I base some of this on the weather over there, which apparently will be between 60-69 when the elites are on the course. Minimal winds means less angst but not as much cooling effect. Hey, I don't make the weather, I just report it.

From the Burlington paper

"Matt Pelletier of Warwick, R.I., and Heidi Westerling of Narragnsett, R.I., captured the 18th Keybank Vermont City Maraton on Sunday.

"Pelletier, 24, toured the course in an unofficials time of 2 hours, 24 minutes, 26 seconds. Michael Wardian, 32, of Arlington, Va., was the runner-up for the second straight year with an unofficial time of 2:28:20."

Damn, I'm pretty good! But I guess I ought to be given my rep over the aeons.

Ha! The numbers were 9 and 4! I'm not just good, I am a friggin' ORACLE!

Nice run DL. I withheld my foreknowledge of your finishing place since I didn't think it would help, but a spring marathon in 2:36 portends a 2:28:49.5 this fall. (By the way you didn't really hit the half in 1:09:40 did you?)
