Very enjoyable read, great job.
Good questions, Duncan. I like his list and attitude towards his running heros. Also, I thought it was interesting that his brother is the only person that he wouldn't mind being beaten by.
Finally, if you showed me that photo and told me that guy was a 2:15 marathoner, I'd say 'no effing way!!!'
The kid has a lot of heart and potential!

I hope this is the start of things to come which will better exploit your writing skills Duncan. Being a wordsmith's a family trait right? And thank god your thoughts of ditching the marathon training were only momentary.
