The brown bag contained two books. It was too late to go to the library and so I decided to add to my paperback collection. As I've said, I'm shutting up Vladimir Nabokov in mid-sentence and throwing him into some box in the basement. And so I'm moving up, or down as is the case of the former book which I purchased today, Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The latter is a book that I'm ashamed to say I've never read: Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Both should be delightful additions to my library. --------------------------------------- I forgot to answer Meghan's question: my daughter's guinea pig's name is 'Cookie.' She was already named when we got her; Cookie lacks in creativity and sadly we are stuck with this banal name for eight years or whatever.

Cookie is the PERFECT name for a guinea pig. Seriously. If you're gonna have a guinea pig, it HAS to have a fru-fru name. I can almost here it:

"Oh Dad! Cookie pooped on the carpet!"
"Oh Dad! Cookie won't stop making noise at night!"
"Oh Dad! Cookie's lost in the house again!"

By the way, your mileage yesterday was ridiculously sweet. I bow to you. We all bow to you.

Meghan, I've been meaning to write..nice interview with Nicole Hunt. I enjoyed it!

BTW: Cookie already pooped on the carpet. It's hamsterish poop (football shape, compact) but bigger and not that nasty to pick up. This thing went from 400 mph to 0 since my daughter is not with me this week. All I am doing this week is checking to make sure the life support systems (water and food) are present.
