Run 1. 28+ miles in 3:46:17 (7:55-8:00 type pace) in the afternoon. Measured miles ranged from 7:27s to 8:10s. It was all pancakes and jolly times until the last few miles when I got stuck with 6 miles in between water fountains.
Run 2. 5 miles in 38:25 (7:41) in the evening.
33 miles in doubles for the day. Single day PR.
105 miles this week.

That's a long time to be running.
Hardcore! One mile for each year of Our Lord's life--inspiring.
Not that four hours of running in a single day is slacking, but how do you get 33 miles from 28+ and 2.5?
I'll take this one Duncan...
Run 1. 28+ miles in 3:46:17
Run 2. 5 miles in 38:25
Note the ordered list and the space between the period and the distance of the run. Also, the time of the run should be an indicator. 2.5 miles in 38+ minutes would be uncomfortably slow, like Dean Karnazes, and that just wouldn't do.
Bummer, Dean ran 34 yesterday. Nice end to the week, I feel like a wuss now. Maybe I need a pet.
I don't understand how anybody could go out for a 5 miler a few hours after running 28, more than a marathon.
Don't you ever get sore?
Don't your calves ever knot up into tight little balls?
Don't your quads ever get so shredded you have to walk down stairs sideways?
You're a man of steel, Duncan.
True caveman! New definition of "long run". Cool.
'Sum guy': Sorry for the confusion. At second glance, it does look deceiving. I'll write something like Run 2: 5 miles, going forward. I like to use the colon, so I'll use it some more.
'Kurt': Thanks for the compliments. I'd like to think I have a decent base from previous 100+ mile weeks so doing an overdistance run at 2:15+ per mile slower than goal pace doesn't tax me that much. The goal of the run was to take it really easy and just get time on the feet vs. stress the lungs.
My own legs are so beat up right now, just reading about someone running 33 miles in a day makes them ache.
